Mystic Frontier is a content system introduced in MapleStory. It features a dice-based exploration mechanic where players use familiar cards to complete challenges across 5 stages. Each run offers opportunities to earn valuable rewards including Chaos Pitched Boss Accessory Boxes, Damaged Black Heart Coupons, and various quality pouches (Glowing, Blue, Purple, Orange, Green).
How does the dice roll mechanic work?
The dice system uses 3 familiar cards, each contributing one die roll. The dice range depends on the familiar's tier:
- Common: d3 (1-3)
- Rare: d4 (1-4)
- Epic: d5 (1-5)
- Unique: d6 (1-6)
- Legendary: d6 (1-6)
The final result is calculated as: (Dice Bonus + Dice 1 + Dice 2 + Dice 3) × Multiplier. You win if your result meets or exceeds the target number.
What are Mystic Frontier Potentials?
Each familiar can have a Mystic Frontier Potential that provides bonuses during dice challenges. There are 47 different potential conditions organized into 5 categories:
- Dice bonuses: Add flat values to your roll (+1 to +18)
- Multipliers: Multiply your total (1.1x to 3.2x)
- Combined effects: Some potentials offer both dice bonus and multiplier
- Negative dice with high multiplier: Trade-off potentials (-1 to -4 dice, but higher multiplier)
Potentials activate based on conditions like element matching, type matching, or having "All Different" cards in your deck.
